North Sands currently offers netball, soccer, cricket and softball.

While North Sands does not follow a particular religious persuasion, the importance of recognising and practicing good moral choices and positive behavior is emphasised. The children sing the National Anthem and discuss goals to work towards during the week. Awards are given out at the assembly and children are recognised for a variety of personal goals achieved.

North Sands tries to bring fun and variety into the school year by celebrating special days in different ways. Apart from the National days of recognition, we also celebrate Readathon Month and fun days.

North Sands has a dedicated Sports Coach. Cricket and Softball are played in summer and Athletics, Soccer and Netball are played in winter.

At North Sands we believe that Sport and physical education is fundamental to the development of children. Skills learned during play, physical education and sport contribute to holistic development. Through participation in sport and physical education, our children learn about the importance of key values such as:

    • Honesty
    • Teamwork
    • Fair play
    • Respect for themselves and others and
    • Adherence to rules

Sport also provides a forum for our children to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing. Which is why we make every effort to involve ourselves in interschool sport with the other schools in our category.

We also have inter-house competitions involving the whole school throughout the year, including an inter-house athletics morning that is held on a Saturday so that parents can attend.

Children will be advised when playing matches
